Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States. He was born on April 13, 1743. He lived in Virginia, one of the original thirteen colonies. It was right next to the Atlantic Ocean. He was curious about the rest of the country. After he became president in 1801, he had to run the United States government. He could not go exploring himself. He sent Lewis and Clark out to explore the Louisiana Purchase and Pacific Northwest for him.
