| Red Cloud was an Oglala Lakota. He was born in 1822 at the forks of the Platte River. Early in life, he became a skillful warrior. Red Cloud’s War showed that he was also a strong leader. On the reservation, Red Cloud always stood up for his people. He opposed the giving up of any more land. Red Cloud lived a long life. His final home was Pine Ridge. He died in 1909. |
